Noccalula Falls in Winter Time

Noccalula Falls in Winter Time

Noccalula Falls is a place that my family and I love to go all throughout the year. There are about 19 trails to walk that are pretty clearly marked and people walk the trails or ride their bikes on the trails all the time.

Legend has it that an Indian maiden named Noccalula was being forced to marry a brave she didn’t love, and chose to dive off the cliff instead of marrying the brave. There is more than one version to this, but that is the legend.

My son and I recently walked the Gorge Trail and it took about 1.5 hours to do so, walking down to a suspension bridge, going across it, and coming back up to a set of steps that started the trail.

You can walk down underneath and get a bird’s eye view of the water coming over the Falls.

It is a beautiful place to see alot of trails, creeks, and overall see God’s beautiful handiwork. You can definitely get your share of exercise by following the trail of your choice from start to finish.

There is also a Barbarian Challenge that people participate in once a year. You need to be in shape to finish that, much less win it.

Overall, this is a beautiful park with a really nice campground and a wedding chapel. I definitely highly recommend it.

God bless you and your family
